Benefits of Massage Therapy
Do you want PAIN RELIEF WITHOUT SIDE EFFECTS?
At Liss Rehab, massage is much more than a way to indulge or pamper yourself. Massage can be a powerful tool that results in an improvement in your well-being. It is an effective stress reliever aside from addressing the muscular component of many pain syndromes. Massage can complement other treatments such as physical therapy, acupuncture, trigger point injections, and corticosteroid injections.
Some studies have found massage to be helpful for:
- Myofascial pain syndrome (often present as a component of neck, shoulder, thoracic, lumbar, and hip pain syndromes)
- Soft tissue strains
- Sports injuries
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches
- Temporomandibular joint pain
- Insomnia related to stress
- Anxiety
- Digestive disorders
- High blood pressure
- Improvement of posture
- Strengthening the immune system via stress reduction
Risks of Massage - Patients and massage therapist must proceed with caution or limit massage in the setting of:
- Deep vein phlebitis
- Burns and wounds
- Bleeding disorders
- Fractures
- Severe osteoporosis
