COVID-19

As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, Howard Liss, MD remains committed to addressing patients' pain and disability needs, while maintaining a safe environment for all. Our office is pleased to offer telemedicine appointments, as well as to see patients in the office with sanitizing and social distancing protocols in place. To minimize interactions, we currently do not have patients waiting in the waiting room, and ask that all patients call us from the parking lot upon arrival. Please wear a mask to your office visit, and we will ask that you wash your hands upon entering the building.

If you are experiencing fever, cough, or any other symptoms, please do not come into the office. We will gladly schedule a telemedicine appointment for you. Below is more information on telemedicine.

Why Telemedicine?

1. Limit potential exposure to COVID-19 and other infectious diseases
Telemedicine allows physicians to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients at a safe distance via phone call or video chat. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this is an invaluable resource, especially for patients that might be immunocompromised or have chronic medical conditions.

2. Effective Treatment Option
Dr. Liss emphasizes that a detailed patient history is the most important factor in making diagnoses. Telemedicine is useful in this respect, allowing Dr. Liss to consider all contributing factors to pain. He can prescribe diagnostic testing, physical therapy, or medications while counseling on proper use and side effects. Over video call, Dr. Liss is able to perform a physical examination with the patient or family members’ help if necessary. Additionally, Dr. Liss may advise on activity modifications, proper body mechanics, or useful home exercises and resources.

3. Improved Access to Care - No Transportation!
For patients that do not have easy access to transportation or that experience pain or discomfort with mobility, telemedicine is an effective, pain-free option for prompt treatment. It also cuts down on traveling time!

4. Improved Efficiency and Convenience
If you are taking off of work or hiring child care for a doctor’s appointment, telemedicine allows you to easily ask your doctor questions or follow-up on treatments from your own home or office space, without uprooting your schedule.

5. Covered by Insurance
Most insurances now cover telehealth treatment and some are even covering telemedicine co-pays. You can contact your insurance carrier for more information on your plan’s coverage.

6. Medical Privacy is still Protected
Telemedicine is HIPAA compliant and all privacy regulations surrounding your care and treatment will be adhered to.

If you feel as though you need to receive an injection or be evaluated in-person, please contact us and we will gladly schedule an in-office appointment.
