Treatment for Sports Related Injuries
When playing sports, winning is the goal. In order to win, you must recruit the best players for your team. Each player will have a position or job to do in order to have victory. The same concept applies when you receive a sports related injury, you must recruit a strong team to help you get back on the playing fields as quickly and as safely as possible.
Dr. Howard Liss – You’ll want to recruit a strong physiatrist such as Dr. Howard Liss to help you in your healing and rehabilitation processes. He will help you assemble a team of medical professionals to focus in on your pain management and rehabilitation from your sports related injury.
Your Breath – Failure to recruit your breath during rehabilitation can cause your process to take longer, and not have as much impact. Your breath should be the fuel for your movements.
Your Muscles – Your muscle can contract; everything else that it does is a result of the nervous system. Therefore, the contraction of your muscle for strength, power and endurance comes from the muscle itself. Your speed and control of the muscle is a function of the nervous system. This means you can recruit your muscles voluntarily. This also means that there is unused muscle that can be used to generate functional strength and ability.
Your Grit – Have you ever heard the word ‘grit?’ It usually refers to the will, desire or determination to accomplish something. Recovering from your sports related injury will require some grit. Translating your will to win on whatever field you play on, to winning in recovery of your injury is important.
Dr. Howard Liss wants to help you with all of your sports related injury needs. Call our office today to experience his multidisciplinary approach to optimize your treatment.
